Michael Jackson Costumes — Aviator Sunglasses

No Michael Jackson outfit would be complete without his trademark aviator sunglasses. He began wearing them in the 1980′s and even wore them when he met President Ronald Regan and his wife, Nancy, in the White House. The President and the First Lady were thanking him for donating his song, Beat It, for use in the drunk driving prevention commercials.

Who could forget Michaels’s awe inspiring performance at the halftime show at the 1993 Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California? With fireworks lighting up the field, Jackson was catapulted onto the stage. As he landed, he maintained a motionless “clenched fist, standing statue stance”, dressed in a gold and black military outfit and sunglasses. He remained completely motionless for several minutes and the crowd went wild. He then slowly removed his aviators threw them away and began to sing and dance. He sang and danced to four songs: “Jam“, “Billie Jean“, “Black or White” and “Heal the World“. It was the first Super Bowl where the audience figures actually increased during the half-time show, and was viewed by 135 million Americans alone.
